Two people were killed in lightning strikes in Baghaichhari upazila and Sylheti Para area of the district town today.
The deceased were identified as Baharjan, 60, a resident of Muslim block area of ??Baghaichhari upazila and Nazir Ahmed, 45, a resident of Sylheti Para of the district town.
Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shireen Akhter confirmed killing of Baharjan by lightning while bringing cattle from the field amid rain this morning.
Meanwhile, Nazir Ahmed was injured by lightning when he was catching fish in Kaptai Lake in Sylheti Para area of the district town around 9am this morning. He was taken to Rangamati General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
