Titumir College ‘shutdown’ demanding university status

The students of Dhaka’s Government Titumir College have given a 48-hour ultimatum for its transformation into a university.

Starting on Tuesday morning, they have launched the ‘Shutdown Titumir’ program suspending all classes and examinations.

These decisions were made during a meeting held on Monday night (27 January) by the organization leading the university transformation movement, Titumir Oikko (Titumir Unity).

The students have warned that if their demands are not met within 48 hours, they will block roads and railways in Mohakhali starting Thursday.

Their demands include transforming Government Titumir College into a university within 48 hours and establishing its administrative structure.

They have also called for the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor during this period to formalize the university’s administration.
