PSC publishes written exam results of 48th special BCS

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the results of the written (MCQ) examination of the 48th special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

According to a press release issued by PSC on Sunday night, a total of 5,206 candidates have qualified for the next stage.

Among them, 4,695 are for assistant surgeon posts and 511 for assistant dental surgeon positions.

The notification, signed by PSC Controller of Examinations (Cadre) Masuma Afrin, stated that all successful candidates will now be eligible to appear for a 100-mark viva voce examination.

PSC sources said the government plans to recruit 3,000 medical professionals through this special BCS process — including 2,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons — to meet the rising demand in the country’s public healthcare system.

The written examination was held on July 18, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm across 27 centers in Dhaka city. While a total of 41,025 applicants registered for the exam, PSC has not disclosed how many appeared.

The 48th special BCS is a targeted recruitment drive aimed at addressing critical shortages of doctors at public hospitals and rural health centres.

The schedule for the viva examination is expected to be announced soon.
