Three-way collision leaves 3 dead in Ctg

A three-way collision involving a motorcycle, truck, and CNG-run auto-rickshaw claimed the lives of three motorcyclists on Friday evening in Chattogram’s Lohagara upazila.

The fatal accident occurred around 6:15 PM at Sikdardighi area of Padua Union along the busy Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.

The deceased have been identified as Md Humayun, 37, and Md Mamun, 32, of Bahadirpara in Satkania upazila, and their relative Monir Hossain, 45, son of Abdul Sattar of Karaiyangar Akbarpara village. All three were riding on the same motorcycle when they faced the tragic fate.

Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman told that the crash happened when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was entering the highway from a side road and collided head-on with the motorcycle heading toward Chattogram.

At that very moment, a truck approaching from the opposite direction rammed into the two vehicles, leading to a three-vehicle pileup.

Two of the motorcyclists died on the spot, while the third was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead by doctors.
