The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in three divisions on Sunday (August 3).
Meteorologist A K M Nazmul Haque said on Friday evening that due to the active southwest monsoon, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions are likely to receive heavy (44–88 mm) to very heavy (>88 mm) rainfall within 48 hours from 6:00 PM on Sunday.
The current synoptic analysis shows the monsoon trough stretching from Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and northern Bangladesh to Assam, with a branch extending over the northern Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is moderately active over Bangladesh and the northern Bay of Bengal. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
