Speaking at a representative meeting of the BNP in Laharkandi Union of Laxmipur Sadar on Saturday, Annie said, “It pains us to see those who call themselves ‘July Warriors’ engage in infighting. It is disappointing and a misfortune for the nation.”
He questioned the motives behind the incident, stating, “What happened yesterday — was that truly in the spirit of the July Warriors? Were July Warriors only in Shahbagh? Weren’t they spread across the country? Are we not all July Warriors — you, me, and the people of this nation?”
Annie warned that a small group using the July Warrior identity irresponsibly was damaging the image of a larger patriotic movement. “Their actions not only hurt us but also create opportunities for fascist forces to exploit our divisions,” he added.
Calling for unity across the political spectrum, he said, “If political forces remain divided, the consequences will be severe. Oppression will return — not only for us, but for the common people. Why should they suffer because of our failure to unite?”
He urged leaders of all parties to come together to defend democracy and expedite fair election processes. “Let us unite to strengthen the foundation of democracy,” he said.
The meeting, held at the Chandkhali A. Rob High School field, was presided over by Laharkandi Union BNP General Secretary Abdur Rahim Bhuiyan.
