Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Dal (BNP) Standing Committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that democracy must be fully reintroduced in Bangladesh. BNP is working with the determination to build a democratic Bangladesh of the future.

He made this remark as the chief guest at a discussion organised at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) on Tuesday at 11 AM on the occasion of the July Mass Uprising Day.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, Fascist Sheikh Hasina destroyed democracy and established a single-handed rule. We must fully reintroduce democracy. To introduce that democracy, we must change our mindset. We must bring about a change in political culture. We must respect dissent.

Mentioning that the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s fascist government was inevitable, Amir Khasru said, The way the people of Bangladesh have been oppressed over the past 15 years, the injustice done to people, false cases have been filed against 6-7 million people, thousands of people have been disappeared, murdered, died in police custody, died in prison due to lack of medical treatment. I myself was also imprisoned on August 5.

He said, BNP has been preparing to work for the welfare of the country and the nation since the first day it got the opportunity to govern the country. The expert team is working on this issue.

He also said that everyone should work together to elevate the sectors of veterinary science, education, health, ICT, etc. to the international level. And that will be the goal of the new Bangladesh.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, We have to embrace the huge change in the psyche of the people of Bangladesh after Sheikh Hasina fled, the aspirations and expectations that have arisen. Politicians have to embrace it. Political parties have to embrace it. Those who cannot embrace it have no political future.

He said, If we want to respect the sacrifices of July, then we have to work with the determination to build the country from each and every position. Then this sacrifice will be properly evaluated. To build a new Bangladesh, we have to think in a new way. We have to change our mindset. We have to be democratic in our speech and behavior. We have to bring about a big change in democratic culture.

The program was presided over by CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman.

CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman said, You are the future of the country. If you lose, Bangladesh will lose. You will not be able to lose. You will have to take the responsibility of repairing the state, building a beautiful future for the next generation. And you will be able to give a permanent form to democracy. And if that is possible, then this Bangladesh will be a healthy, beautiful, independent and safe Bangladesh. And if we can build such a Bangladesh, then the souls of the July martyrs will find peace. The July Revolution will be successful.

Among others, Chittagong Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Omar Faruk Yusuf, CVASU Director (External Activities) Professor Dr. A. K. M. Saifuddin, Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Alam and Director (PRTC) Professor Dr. A. K. M. Humayun Kabir were present on the occasion.
