BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has emphasized the need for the full restoration of democracy in Bangladesh.

“BNP is working with a vision to build a truly democratic Bangladesh,” he said while addressing a discussion marking July Uprising Day at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) yesterday.

He added, “Fascist Sheikh Hasina destroyed democracy and established autocratic rule. We must reintroduce democracy in its full essence. This requires a change in mindset, a transformation of political culture, and respect for differing opinions.”

The discussion was chaired by CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman. Special guests included Chattogram Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Omar Faruk Yusuf, CVASU Director of Outreach Professor Dr. A.K.M. Saifuddin, Director of Student Welfare Professor Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Alam, and PRTC Director Professor Dr. A.K.M. Humayun Kabir. The university’s Proctor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, delivered the welcome speech.

Rahat Bin Jahangir, a second-year student of CVASU’s Faculty of Food Science and Technology who was injured during the July uprising, also shared his experience at the event.
