In line with the directives of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Benapole Municipality BNP on Saturday organised a rally aimed at building a “fascism-free” and democratic Bangladesh.
The rally was held at 3:30pm at the Benapole Municipality Community Centre, with municipality BNP president Md Nazim Uddin in the chair and general secretary Abu Taher moderating.
Jessore district BNP general secretary Khandaker Delwar Hossain Khokon attended the event as the chief guest, while district BNP organising secretary Shahidul Bari Robu and upazila BNP general secretary Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton were present as special guests. Former lawmaker Mofiqul Hasan Tripti addressed the rally as the chief speaker.
Speakers at the programme said Bangladesh would become a better country under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. They noted that BNP was working from cities to villages to implement its 31-point programme so that people would vote the party into power in the next election. They also called for unity in restoring democracy, establishing people’s rights, and safeguarding the country’s future, urging all to put aside differences and work together ahead of the upcoming polls.
Among others present were municipality BNP joint general secretaries Meher Ullah, Amirul Islam Babu, and Rezaul Karim; vice presidents Masudur Rahman Milon, Md Shahabuddin, Nasimul Gani Boltu, Idris Malek, and A.K.M. Atiquzzaman Soni; Md Abdar Rahman, Sahadur Rahman Khokon, Abul Kader, and Kazi Shahajan Sabuj; organising secretaries Abdul Ahad and Ataruzzaman Aktar; finance secretary Abdus Samad; publicity and publication secretary Abdul Munnaf; Benapole Land Port Handling Workers’ Union president Maksudur Rahman Rintu (891) and acting president Tabibur Rahman Tobi (925), along with leaders and activists from BNP’s affiliated bodies and front organisations.
