Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus arrives in Malaysia for 3-day visit

Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Monday evening for a three-day state visit, with migration and investment issues high on the agenda.

Yunus landed at 7:50pm local time on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, according to his deputy press secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder. He departed Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport earlier in the afternoon.

The visit will feature a business conference on August 12, the signing of multiple cooperation agreements, and Yunus receiving an honorary doctorate from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on August 13.

On his first day, Yunus will receive a guard of honour, with Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail welcoming him. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya on August 12, after which the two countries are expected to sign five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and three notes of exchange.

The chief adviser will also attend a gathering with Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia.

Yunus is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, International Affairs Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi, and BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.
Yunus is scheduled to return to Dhaka on August 13.
