Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), the national university of Malaysia, will award an honorary doctorate degree to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus during his upcoming three-day state visit to the country.
The announcement was made by Shah Asif Rahman, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing on Sunday.
Prof Yunus, who is set to arrive in Malaysia today, will receive the honorary degree on August 13. Following the ceremony, he will deliver a commemorative lecture to UKM students.
On the same day, Prof Yunus will also pay a courtesy call on UKM Chancellor and Ruler of Negeri Sembilan Province, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir.
The visit underscores the strong bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia and recognizes Prof Yunus’s contributions to social innovation and development.
