Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam has called on Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the country to ensure neutrality, transparency and inclusivity in organizing the upcoming ‘Notun Kuri’ competition.

Speaking at a virtual meeting with divisional commissioners and DCs from Information Ministry’s conference room on Thursday, Mahfuj emphasized the significance of the competition in promoting cultural awakening among children and adolescents.

He noted that the iconic talent hunt, being revived after a long break, must fairly represent talent from all communities and regions.

“If the most talented children at the grassroots level are not selected properly, it will compromise the quality of the final stage in Dhaka,” Mahfuj warned.

He urged DCs to guarantee impartiality in judging and to ensure participation from all communities—regardless of religion, caste, or background.“This competition should be made festive and vibrant. To do that, we must increase the number of participants,” he added.

Mahfuj also called for extensive promotion, especially through social media, to encourage wider participation and engagement at the local level.Information Secretary Mahbuba Farjana supported the adviser’s remarks, suggesting that DCs organize meetings with local stakeholders and involve journalists to boost awareness and coverage of the event.

Deputy Commissioners from Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Joypurhat, Meherpur and Chattogram spoke at the meeting, sharing updates on their respective district-level preparations. BTV Director General Md Mahbubul Alam and other senior officials from the ministry were also present.
