Jamaat-e-Islami has dismissed Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) report linking its leaders to alleged stone looting in Sylhet’s Sada Pathar area, calling the findings “purposeful, fictional and politically driven.”
At a press conference jointly held by Sylhet district and city units of Jamaat on Thursday, Metropolitan Ameer Muhammad Fakhrul Islam said the party found no factual basis in ACC’s claims.
“This report is nothing more than political propaganda. There is no official or credible document backing these allegations,” he stated.
Fakhrul further demanded a public apology if ACC has indeed issued such a report without concrete evidence.
“We believe this is an attempt to malign Jamaat’s image while protecting the actual perpetrators,” he said, adding that no Jamaat leader or activist is involved in the incident.
Jamaat leaders warned the public not to fall for what they described as a politically motivated smear campaign based on misinformation.
Earlier, ACC had said its enforcement team conducted field investigations and raids that allegedly uncovered links between political figures and large-scale unauthorized stone extraction from the Sada Pathar tourist zone in Sylhet’s Companiganj.
ACC claims prompted strong backlash from Jamaat, who rejected the accusations outright.
