“Today, it is clear that Sheikh Hasina is accountable for these heinous crimes,” Fakhrul said, further criticizing the interim government for its failure to ensure justice or transparency regarding the Commission on Disappearances. He accused the government of neglecting the families still searching for their loved ones.
The BNP leader expressed solidarity with victims of state oppression and underscored his party’s own history of political persecution. He pledged that if the BNP returns to power, they would address these issues through democratic processes and free elections, not vengeance.
Fakhrul reiterated the BNP’s demand for a fair and independent trial for all individuals involved in extrajudicial killings and disappearances. He assured the families of the disappeared that justice would be pursued until it was achieved.
“We stand with every persecuted and oppressed person in this country,” Fakhrul said, urging the families not to lose hope and reminding them that people’s movements have the power to bring about change.
