The Election Commission (EC) has instructed all regional offices to complete and submit a full audit of ballot boxes by 25 August 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.

In a directive issued by EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, regional election officers have been told to report the exact number of usable ballot boxes to the Election Management-1 Branch within the deadline.

Additionally, the EC has asked field offices to vacate storage facilities (godowns) and remove unused or outdated materials to make space for new election supplies. Offices must also submit formal requests for logistical support to ensure the safe transport and storage of materials.

Procurement for the upcoming polls is already underway. The EC aims to complete the acquisition of key election items—including ballot papers, indelible ink, voter slips, and polling kits—by September 2025.

In a parallel initiative, the EC has launched a civic awareness campaign aimed at younger citizens. Regional offices have been directed to collect original content—such as stories, poems, essays, rhymes, plays, and dialogues—on voter registration and National ID awareness. Selected works may be forwarded to the National Identity Registration Division for possible inclusion in school textbooks.

These measures reflect the EC’s dual focus on organizational readiness and public engagement as the country gears up for a transparent and credible electoral process.
