Tamil superstar-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay has stirred fresh debate in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape with a fiery speech that indirectly took aim at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at his party’s second state-level conference at Parapatti in Madurai, Vijay delivered bold remarks in front of thousands of supporters, declaring the BJP as an ideological enemy and ruling DMK as a political rival.
Vijay’s speech has gone viral across social media, particularly a section where he drew a sharp metaphor: “A lion is always a lion. When it roars, the echo is heard up to eight kilometers away. No matter how many foxes roam the forest, the king remains the lion. The lion hunts alone not for entertainment, but with purpose.”
Political analysts widely interpret this as a veiled but pointed jab at Prime Minister Modi, showcasing Vijay’s confidence in his leadership and growing political ambitions.
Vijay made it clear that his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), will not form alliances ahead of 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
“Our only ideological enemy is BJP, and our political rival is the DMK. TVK is not a party for opportunists and we will not form alliances with such people,” he declared.
Though this is only the beginning of Vijay’s formal entry into politics, his clear stance and mass popularity have already positioned him as a potential third force in Tamil Nadu’s political arena.
The influence of cinema stars in Tamil politics is well established, from NT Rama Rao and Jayalalithaa to Kamal Haasan and now, Thalapathy Vijay is stepping onto the same path, with a roar that could reshape the political narrative in Tamil Nadu state.
