Three witnesses have testified in corruption cases filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and members of her family over alleged irregularities in plot allocations under the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Purbachal New Town Project.
On Thursday, three Rajuk officials, Mahbubar Rahman (Deputy Director, Estate & Land), Asim Shil (Assistant Director) and Ullas Chowdhury, gave testimony before Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4, presided over by Judge Rabiul Alam.
ACC prosecutor Khan Md Moinul Hasan Lipon said the witnesses testified in three separate cases. The next hearing is scheduled for 4 September.
According to the ACC, the accused submitted false affidavits to Rajuk, claiming they had no property in Dhaka or nearby areas, in order to secure 10-katha plots in Sector 27 of the Purbachal project. In reality, they and their dependents already owned houses and apartments in the city.

The court framed charges on July 31 against the accused, who include Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, children Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed (Putul), as well as Rehana’s children Tulip Siddiq (UK MP), Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Azmira Siddiq. Arrest warrants have been issued as they remain absconding.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed six such cases in January, accusing the former prime minister and her family of abusing state power to obtain government plots despite being ineligible.
