Protesters blocked roads in Chattogram for the second consecutive day on Saturday, demanding justice over the attack on Nurul Haq Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, in Dhaka.

From noon, several hundred demonstrators gathered at the city’s No. 2 Gate intersection in Sholoshahar. They burned tires, placed barricades, and halted traffic on the busy Muradpur–GEC road, causing severe gridlock in surrounding areas.

Carrying banners with Nur’s injured photos, participants identified themselves as leaders and activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad, along with members of the National Students’ Council (NSC), other political groups, and students. Protesters chanted slogans such as “Ban Jatiya Party,” “Arrest Awami League’s Collaborators.”

Speakers at the rally demanded the immediate arrest of law enforcement members who they claimed attacked Nur and his supporters in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar on Friday. They also urged the government to ban the ruling party’s ally, Jatiya Party, and arrest its activists.

Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Solaiman confirmed that police remained at the scene to monitor the situation as the demonstration disrupted traffic.

On Friday night, protesters had already blocked the same road hours after Nur came under attack in front of the Jatiya Party’s central office in Dhaka.
