Election Commission (EC) has officially finalized the boundaries of 300 parliamentary constituencies in preparation for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

A notification signed by Senior Secretary of EC, Akhtar Ahmed, was issued on Thursday, confirming the new constituency demarcations.

Speaking to the media in the evening, Secretary Ahmed stated that final demarcation notification under the Delimitation of Constituencies Act, 2021 has been issued and will be published in the government gazette.

According to the final list, changes have been made to 47 constituencies out of 300.

In the draft list, minor adjustments were made in 39 constituencies. One significant change is the increase of a parliamentary seat in Gazipur, while Bagerhat sees a reduction of one seat; both changes have been retained in the final list.

The Commission stated that the preliminary list of redefined constituencies was published on July 30, 2025, under Sections 6 and 8 of the Delimitation of Constituencies Act, 2021.

Alongside the draft, EC invited objections, suggestions and feedback from the public and stakeholders.

During the feedback period, which lasted until August 10, EC received 1,185 objections and 708 suggestions concerning 84 constituencies across 33 districts.

Public hearings were then conducted from August 24 to 27 to review and assess these submissions.

Following these hearings and a detailed review of all data, arguments and evidence presented, Election Commission finalized and published the revised list of 300 constituencies.

Previously, on July 30, the draft demarcation retained boundaries for 261 constituencies and proposed minor changes in 39. That draft has now been reviewed and revised to form final list for the upcoming parliamentary election.
