The deadline for primary registration for next year’s Hajj has been set for 12 October and will not be extended in line with the schedule set by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The Ministry of Religious Affairs made the announcement on Thursday.

In the letter it was stated that the primary registration for Hajj of 2026 through both government and private channels began on 27 July and will continue until 12 October.

In this context, all mobile operator companies have been requested to take necessary steps to widely circulate this message regarding primary Hajj registration by sending free SMS to Bangladeshi Muslim citizens who use mobile phones.

Md Manjurul Haque, joint secretary of the Hajj Wing of the ministry concerned, said, “According to the roadmap of the KSA government, no one will be able to register after 12 October this time. We want to make this information widely known to all. That’s why initiatives have been taken. A letter has been sent to the BTRC.”

Aspirant Hajj pilgrims have to deposit Tk4 lakh initially for the Hajj of 2026. After the announcement of the Hajj package, registrants will have to deposit the remaining amount to complete their registration process.

A total of 127,198 pilgrims from Bangladesh would be able to perform Hajj under both government and private management next year.

Depending on the moon sighting, the holy Hajj will take place in Saudi Arabia in the last week of May 2026.

The government has yet to announce the Hajj package, though more than a month remains to complete the primary registration. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is moving forward with the target of announcing the package by mid-September.
