Sharmin S. Murshid, Adviser to the Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, urged citizens to stand beside the government in the face of any attempt to destabilize the upcoming national elections.
“The next parliamentary election will be held on schedule. If any group tries to create unrest, the people must come forward and support the government,” she said while addressing a student recognition event in Sonargaon on Saturday.
Murshid also noted that while the current administration is committed to reform, undoing 16 years of corruption and mismanagement cannot happen overnight. “This government, under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is working to rebuild the country. We need time and unity to bring about real change,” she said.
The event, organized by Capital School and College at Royal Resort, honored 199 students from various institutions across Sonargaon upazila who achieved GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC and equivalent examinations.
Speaking about the importance of youth development, Murshid emphasized the shared responsibility of parents and educational institutions in shaping future generations. “If we fail to raise our children with the right values, we risk falling behind globally,” she warned.
The ceremony was presided over by Md. Mohsin Miah, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited. Distinguished guests included Additional Deputy Commissioner Naima Islam, Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Rahman, Sonargaon Police Inspector (Investigation) Rashedul Hasan Khan, and Capital School and College Chairman Akhtar Hossain.
Each of the GPA-5 achievers received a certificate and a crest in recognition of their academic excellence.
