The biggest annual religious festival of the Hindu community, Sharadiya Durga Puja, begins tomorrow. On this occasion, Sharsha upazila unit of BNP has provided financial assistance to 29 puja mandaps across the upazila.

Besides, BNP leaders said party volunteers will work alongside the police to ensure the safety of devotees and visitors at every mandap. The announcement came from upazila BNP general secretary Nuruzzaman Liton.

The programme was held on Saturday (September 27) morning at the party office in Sharsha upazila BNP, with Jessore district BNP president Advocate Saberul Haque Sabu attending as chief guest.

Sharsha upazila BNP president Abul Hasan Zahir, general secretary Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton, former office secretary Mofiqul Hasan Tripti, chief adviser Khairuzzaman Modhu, senior joint general secretary Advocate Mostafa Kamal Mintu, organising secretaries Ashraful Alam Babu and Salauddin, along with leaders of the upazila’s 11 union units and affiliated organisations, were also present.

From the Hindu community, Sharsha upazila Puja Celebration Council president Baidyanath Das and general secretary Nilkamal Singh received the financial aid from BNP leaders on behalf of the puja mandaps.
