This announcement was made on Sunday during a review meeting on the implementation progress of Annual Development Programme (ADP), held at Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in Secretariat.
The ministry’s adviser, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, shared details of the upcoming project during the session.
According to her, the new building will feature several environmentally friendly systems, including rainwater harvesting, solar power generation and a sewage treatment plant (STP).
She also noted that the department will draw on the green building experience of the country’s garment industry to ensure the project meets high sustainability standards.
In addition to Dhaka-based project, she highlighted plans to establish dedicated buildings for Department of Environment in industrial zones such as Gazipur and other regions outside the capital.
These facilities are intended to strengthen local environmental protection efforts. Adequate transportation resources will also be provided to enhance enforcement operations in those areas.
Emphasizing the importance of timely and effective implementation of development projects, the adviser noted that delays or inefficiency in government activities hinder public expectations.
She urged all involved to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and competence.
The meeting was attended by key officials including Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of Ministry of Environment; Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, Additional Secretary (Climate Change); Md. Khairul Hasan, Additional Secretary (Administration and Development) and Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Director General of Department of Environment, among various project directors.
