Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma has emphasized that legal action will be taken against women abusers, rapists, and armed criminals, saying, “No crime will ever be tolerated in the Chattogram Hill Tracts.”

He made the remarks on Sunday during an exchange meeting at the conference room of the Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner’s office, held in the wake of a recent incident involving the sexual assault of a female student in Khagrachhari.

Supradip urged authorities and elected representatives to ensure that communal conflicts do not occur in the region in the future. “Action must be taken against the real culprits within the framework of law. Creating intolerance in our society is never desirable,” he said.

Calling on teachers to act responsibly, he said, “Educational institutions must ensure the safety of students. Parents must guide themselves, their children, and the community. Parents must play a leading role in shaping their children’s future. We want all communities—Bengali and hill tribes alike—to work together.”

He also urged everyone to remain vigilant to ensure the success of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja and Prabarana Purnima religious events.

The meeting was chaired by Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner A.B.M. Iftikharul Islam Khandakar and attended by Khagrachhari Hill District Council Chairman Shefalika Tripura, Khagrachhari Sadar Zone Commander Lt. Col. Md. Khademul Islam, the district police superintendent, student leaders, representatives of various communities, journalists, and religious leaders.

Local representatives condemned the recent incident in Khagrachhari Mahajanpara and called for identification and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
