Bangladesh recorded a sharp increase in remittance earnings in September, with inflows rising 16.7 percent year-on-year, according to the latest figures from Bangladesh Bank.

In the first 28 days of September 2025, expatriates sent home a total of US$2.46 billion, up from US$2.11 billion in the same period last year.

The strong inflow is also reflected in the cumulative numbers for the current fiscal year. Between July and September 28, Bangladeshi workers abroad remitted US$7.36 billion, compared with US$6.25 billion during the same three-month period in the previous fiscal year.

Remittances remain one of the country’s most vital sources of foreign exchange, providing critical support to both household incomes and Bangladesh’s external reserves.
