The country’s largest religious festival of the Hindu community, Sharadiya Durga Puja, was inaugurated in Jashore’s Sharsha upazila with a discussion meeting organized by the local unit of the BNP.

Sharsha Upazila BNP President Abul Hasan Zohir, General Secretary Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton, former office secretary  Mofiqul Hasan Tripti, Upazila BNP Adviser Khairuzzaman Madhu, Senior Joint Secretary Advocate Mostafa Kamal Mintu, Organizing Secretary Ashraful Alam Babu, Joint Secretary Tajuddin, and other leaders of the party were present at the event.

Speakers at the meeting said Durga Puja is no longer confined to the Hindu community alone; it has now become a universal festival. They added that the people of Sharsha have always been united in communal harmony.

Sharsha Upazila BNP General Secretary Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton said that, BNP will continue to play an active role in ensuring the safety of all communities and in celebrating festivals peacefully in the future.
