Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has stated that there is no immediate prospect of lifting the ban on the activities of Awami League.

Speaking to journalists after visiting Sree Sree Sankar Math Puja Mandap in Barishal city, Dr. Nazrul emphasized that the ban remains in effect and is unlikely to be lifted in the near future.

“When the activities of a political party are banned, the question arises whether the ban is temporary or permanent. At this point, I don’t see any possibility of it being lifted anytime soon,” he said.

The adviser also mentioned that the next national election is scheduled to be held in the first half of February 2026.

Addressing the recent unrest in Chattogram Hill Tracts, Dr. Nazrul affirmed that the government would take strict action against those responsible.

During his visit, Dr. Nazrul met with members of Hindu community and exchanged greetings.

Among those present were Barishal Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Delwar Hussain, Superintendent of Police Md. Sharif Uddin, President of Sree Sree Sankar Math Barishal Committee Kanu Lal Saha and former General Secretary Tammay Topu.
