Thousands took to Dhaka’s streets demanding an end to Israeli attacks and supporting humanitarian efforts. Multiple student organisations and human rights groups staged coordinated demonstrations across the capital, voicing solidarity with Palestine and the intercepted Global Sumud Flotilla.

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Dhaka South unit led a protest march on Thursday afternoon, commencing at Science Lab and culminating at Shahbagh with a spirited rally at 4:45 PM.

Central, metropolitan and university leaders attended the demonstration, condemning what they termed Israeli brutality against unarmed Palestinians as crimes against humanity.

Shibir leaders welcomed the Global Sumud Flotilla’s courageous initiative whilst declaring full solidarity with the humanitarian mission.

They emphasised Bangladesh’s historic position alongside Palestinian freedom struggles, urging the international community to implement effective measures stopping Israeli actions and establishing lasting peace in Palestine.

The leaders stressed that Israeli forces continue violating international law, human rights and humanitarian principles beyond acceptable limits.
Community for Freedom and Justice simultaneously organised a solidarity rally titled “Solidarity with Palestine” at Shahbagh the same afternoon.
Coordinator Md Nizam Uddin, alongside spokesperson Dr Momi Ansari, Director Aslam Beg Sayem and several academics, activists and medical professionals, demanded immediate cessation of Gaza’s ongoing genocide and Palestinian independence.
Speakers strongly condemned Israeli attacks on the international humanitarian flotilla approaching Gaza, demanding unconditional release of all detained human rights activists, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg.

The gathering particularly saluted Bangladeshi human rights activist Shahidul Alam for joining the humanitarian flotilla.
Nearly 45 relief vessels carrying humanitarian aid from various countries faced interception, with approximately 200 activists detained by Israeli forces, according to speakers.

Community for Freedom and Justice representatives emphasised that supporting Palestine requires no particular religious identity, stating being human proves sufficient.
They highlighted Bangladesh’s consistent stance supporting oppressed communities, urging government officials to adopt stronger international positions stopping Gaza’s violence and supporting Palestinian independence.

Bangladesh Ganotantrik Chhatra Sangsad conducted a parallel rally beginning at Dhaka University’s Raju Memorial Sculpture, concluding at Shahbagh July Square.
General Secretary Zahid Ahsan declared that Shahbagh’s spirit would reach Nepal, Indonesia, Madagascar and eventually Palestine, describing Palestine as a feeling rather than merely territory.

Dhaka University Chhatra Dal joint secretary BM Kawsar noted Israel’s contradictory behaviour, killing Palestinians whilst presenting alternative narratives at the United Nations.
Chhatra Dal office secretary Mallik Wasi Uddin Tami criticised international organisations for conducting endless meetings without taking meaningful action, arguing world leaders must ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza’s population.

Activist Farzana Lipi expressed concern about Palestine’s deteriorating situation, noting the paradox of Muslim nations remaining silent whilst non-Muslim countries demonstrate humanity through aid delivery.
She highlighted Bangladeshi journalist Shahidul Islam’s presence amongst flotilla participants, calling for urgent action saving Gaza’s people.
