Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has said there is no legal impediment to implement the July Chatrter, which will be executed as per the recommendations of National Consensus Commission.
He made the remarks on Friday morning while speaking to journalists after a discussion session with local media professionals at Johan Dream Valley Park auditorium in Jhenaidah.
Responding to a question, the Attorney General said, “There is no legal barrier to the implementation of July Charter. It will be enforced in line with the recommendations made by National Consensus Commission.”
Criticizing the previous Awami League government, Asaduzzaman claimed that all constitutional institutions were rendered dysfunctional under its rule.
He added that civil servants who were not involved in major crimes during that time will continue to serve the state.
“However, those who were complicit in crimes under the directives of Awami League government will be dealt with according to the law based on the severity of their actions,” he said.
Earlier that morning, a meeting was held between Dhaka-based Jhenaidah Journalists’ Forum and local journalists of the district.
The session was presided over by Asif Kajal, president of Jhenaidah Press Club.
