Barishal’s final National Cricket League (NCL) T20 match ended in disappointment as rain forced the abandonment of their clash against Rajshahi at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Academy Ground on Monday. Despite strong contributions from Iftakhar Hossain Ifti and Fazle Mahmud, Barishal had to settle for a shared point, finishing the campaign without a single win.

Batting first in a rain-curtailed 18-over game, Barishal posted 140 for 5, with Ifti scoring a steady 55 off 48 balls and Rabbi adding a quick 39 not out off 22 deliveries. For Rajshahi, Mohor Sheikh claimed two wickets.

Rajshahi began their chase positively, reaching 17 for 1 in 1.5 overs, before heavy rain halted proceedings. The result confirmed Barishal’s last-place finish with just two points from seven matches, while Rajshahi, with six points, was also eliminated from playoff contention. This marked the sixth match of the season to be abandoned due to rain.

In Monday’s other fixture, Rangpur Division secured a narrow three-wicket win over Dhaka Metro, with Jahid Javed starring in an all-round performance to earn the Player of the Match award.

Batting first, Dhaka Metro managed only 90 for 8 in their 20 overs, with Mahfijul Islam top-scoring with 20 off 23 balls. Jahid Javed impressed with the ball, taking 2 wickets for just 8 runs.

In reply, Rangpur overcame early struggles to chase down the target, led by Jahid Javed’s 26 off 22 balls and quickfire 17 off 9 from captain Akbar Ali. For Dhaka Metro, Rakibul Hasan was the top wicket-taker, claiming 2 wickets for 31 runs. With the win, Rangpur moved up to fourth place, while Dhaka Metro dropped to fifth in the standings.
