A Dhaka court has placed former reserved seat lawmaker Tamanna Nusrat Bubly and 16 others on remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Tejgaon Police Station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman issued the remand order on Tuesday after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.
According to court sources, nine of the accused named in First Information Report (FIR) were placed on a three-day remand, while the remaining eight; including Bubly, who was shown as a suspect, were granted a two-day remand.
Bubly, wife of former Narsingdi mayor Lokman Hossain, was arrested in Mirpur on September 28 during a special police operation and was later sent to jail.
According to the case statement, on September 24, leaders and activists of banned political groups; including factions of Awami League and its affiliated organizations, allegedly brought out an unauthorized procession at Tejgaon area.
During the event, they reportedly detonated crude bombs, causing panic among the public.
Police detained 25 individuals from the scene and recovered banners along with four unexploded crude bombs.
The case was filed the following day by Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Kader under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
