Foreign Adviser Md. Tauhid Hossain has described the meeting of three ambassadors at the residence of former Awami League minister and influential politician Saber Hossain Chowdhury in Dhaka as a “private visit”.

Speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, Tauhid Hossain said, “The ambassadors visited a private residence. If Saber Hossain had been involved in any criminal activity, he would have been taken into custody. That did not happen.”

He added, “Ambassadors can visit anyone’s residence. There may be debates about what was discussed there, but we have nothing to comment on regarding their visit.”

On questions about the election for the 81st President of the UN General Assembly, he stated that Bangladesh would not face off against Palestine.

Regarding remarks by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri about Bangladesh’s upcoming national election, Tauhid Hossain said, “Any government formed through the election will work with India. We do not consider his statement as a matter of concern. This is entirely Bangladesh’s internal affair.”
