Three witnesses testified on Thursday in three separate corruption cases filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 22 others over alleged irregularities in plot allocations under the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha’s (RAJUK) Purbachal New Town Project.

The testimonies were recorded before Dhaka Special Judge Court-4, presided over by Judge Md Rabiul Alam. The witnesses — Tayeba Rahim, Reshma and Dewan Md Sayeed, all officials of the Dhaka South City Corporation’s municipal tax department — testified in the three cases.

As the accused remain absconding, the defense did not cross-examine the witnesses.Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) prosecutor Khan Md Moinul Hasan Lipon said the next hearing for recording testimony has been scheduled for October 30.
Earlier, on July 31, the same court framed charges in the six ACC-filed cases that accuse Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her children Sajib Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul and other family members, including British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, of abusing power to obtain 10-katha plots each in Purbachal’s Sector 27 despite being ineligible.

The accused remain fugitives and arrest warrants have been issued against them.
