The signing ceremony of the National July Charter is a betrayal with the nation in the name of national unity, said Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

He made the remark while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of an affiliate organisation ‘Jatiya Sramik Shakti’ in the capital’s Iskaton area on 17 October.

In his speech, Nahid said, “The national unity is formed when people from all strata of life unite to fight for a common cause. Through united efforts, Jatiya Sramik Shakti will work to establish humane politics.”

“Workers endured extreme oppression under Sheikh Hasina’s fascist regime. Jatiya Sramik Shakti will ensure the liberation and dignity of workers across Bangladesh, he added.

At the conclusion of the event, Nahid Islam announced the leadership of the Jatiya Sramik Shakti, naming the chief organiser, secretary, and convener of the organisation.
