A doa and milad mahfil was held in Benapole on Sunday marking the seventh death anniversary of late BNP standing committee member Tariqul Islam.

The prayer gathering took place after Asr prayers at a mosque on Benapole Bypass Road, organized by Sharsha upazila BNP general secretary and Jessore-85/1 constituency BNP nomination aspirant Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton.

Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Tariqul Islam. Orphaned children, along with leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies, joined the event.

Among those present were— Almgir Siddique, president of Benapole Union BNP (Ward-4); general secretary Abul Kashem; Master Saheb Ali, president of Bahadurpur Union BNP (Ward-3); general secretary Robiul Islam Robi; Benapole municipality Jubo Dal convener Mofizur Rahman Babu; joint conveners Ripon, Ataur, Robiul, and Ashraful; acting president of the municipal Krishak Dal Hasan Imam; general secretary Jamal Hossain; Sharsha upazila Chhatra Dal convener Shariful Islam Choyon; senior joint convener Mohaiminul Sagor; and Benapole municipal Chhatra Dal convener Arifur Rahman Arif, among others.

Speakers at the doa mahfil recalled the political contributions of the late Tariqul Islam and prayed for the salvation of his soul.
