The cross-examination of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigation officers began on Monday in two of the three graft cases filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family over alleged irregularities in obtaining plots under RAJUK’s Purbachal New Town Project.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-5 recorded testimonies from three witnesses, including ACC assistant directors Afnan Jannat Keya and SM Rashedul Hasan. The cross-examinations were not completed, and the court has scheduled further hearings for November 6.

In one case against Hasina and 12 others, defense counsel for former RAJUK member Mohammad Khurshid Alam began questioning the investigation officer. In another case involving Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 15 others, testimonies were taken from former RAJUK officials.

A third related case, involving Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul among 18 accused, has been adjourned until November 6 for testimony from the investigating officer.

The ACC filed six separate cases in January, accusing Hasina and several family members, including Sheikh Rehana and her children Tulip Rizwana Siddiq MP, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and Azmyna Siddiq, of abusing power to obtain 10-katha plots in Purbachal’s Sector 27 despite being ineligible. Arrest warrants remain in effect as the accused are absconding.
