Law and order situation remains conducive for fair polls: Home adviser

Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday said the overall law and order situation in the country is satisfactory and a favorable environment is prevailing for holding elections in a proper manner.

“The country’s law and order situation has improved significantly. Although some minor incidents have occurred, the overall situation remains well,” he told journalists after laying the foundation stone of a dormitory building at Sirajdikhan upazila.

He also directed all members of the administration to remain alert to ensure that law and order remains stable ahead of the upcoming polls.

Later, the home adviser visited the Sirajdikhan Upazila Health Complex and inquired about healthcare services there.

He also inspected several proposed sites for establishing a nursing institute in the upazila.

Dhaka Range DIG Rezaul Karim Mallik, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tul Zannat, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, and Sirajdikhan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahina Akter, among others, were present on the occasion.

The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) will construct the four-storey dormitory building at a cost of Tk2.94 crore.
