Govt working to bring back fugitive police officers: Home Adviser

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the government is making all-out efforts to repatriate the police officers who fled abroad following the July 2024 Uprising.

“We are doing our utmost to bring back the police officers who have gone into hiding overseas,” he told reporters after a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday.

The Home Adviser said that the authorities are in communication with countries that have extradition treaties with Bangladesh to facilitate the return of the fugitive officers.

He also urged the media to continue reporting on the issue to help ensure transparency and public awareness.
