”The people of the country are focused on the elections. And the polls will be held very smoothly. Administration is working to ensure a free and fair election.”
He said this at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Gazipur after a meeting with officials from the administration, police and law enforcement agencies.
”The national election is scheduled for February. In the meeting we discussed about the preparations for holding the polls. Local issues in Gazipur were also addressed. Several rumours related to the election being spread from neighboring countries on social media, have subsided as journalists have reported the facts.”
Regarding security concerns, Jahangir Alam warned that any Awami League leaders and activists released on bail who engage in criminal activity before the election will face strict action.
He also acknowledged that miscreants and rumour may attempt to create unrest, assuring that comprehensive measures will be taken to prevent such actions.
