Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Wednesday warned that the interim government would apply the full force of law against any Bangladesh Awami League (AL) members attempting to defy the ban on party activities, particularly those encouraged by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India.
The Press Secretary made the remarks when a journalist drew his attention regarding the remarks made by Hasina staying in India and her party’s ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ programme for November 13.

Shafiqul described Hasina as the “butcher of Bengal”, stressing that her actions and directives from abroad are being closely monitored. “Anyone attempting meetings, processions, or activities encouraged by her will face strict legal action. The government will not spare an inch of space,” he said.

Shafiqul noted that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to prevent any AL activities.

He also referenced diplomatic engagements, including a meeting between Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where Hasina’s actions were flagged. Bangladesh has also sought her extradition through diplomatic channels.

The Press Secretary pointed to UN documents detailing Hasina’s alleged crimes, urging journalists to review the reports. Regarding a letter from former Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen to the UNDP requesting urgent intervention for credible elections, Alam suggested journalists direct questions to the UNDP.

Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahmmad, and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi were also present at the briefing.
