Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called on university students to prepare themselves to lead the nation under the slogan “New Leadership, New Bangladesh.”
Speaking at the Central Student Council Elected Representatives Reception 2025, organised by Islami Chhatra Shibir held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center on Friday, he said that the new generation of student leaders must emerge and act with honesty and vision so that the dream of a renewed Bangladesh can be realized through them.
Shafiqur said, “The leadership that rises from university campuses should be built and guided in a way that the slogan ‘New Leadership, New Bangladesh’ becomes a reality. Through your leadership, a new roadmap for the nation will take shape.”
Referring to past student politics, he said, “We have seen how corruption tainted student councils in earlier times. Those elected often engaged in unethical activities for personal gain. But now, I want to see student councils that pass the test of integrity with 100 percent marks. The nation will not tolerate even a single failure.”

He congratulated all candidates who took part in student council elections, saying, “The nation has great expectations from the newly elected representatives. Your responsibilities go beyond campus boundaries — you must uphold and fulfill the nation’s dreams. The nation owes much to the talent of university students, and I hope you will repay that debt.”

Expressing confidence in their abilities, Dr. Rahman said, “I believe you are capable of bearing this heavy, mountain-like responsibility.”

He added, “Student councils are the rehearsal stage for how young people will build tomorrow’s Bangladesh. I want to see a youth-driven, dynamic nation.”

Urging student leaders to prioritize education and research, he said, “Each university must become a center of academic excellence, and the student council should take the lead in ensuring that. Research is disappearing from campuses — student councils must work to bring it back. The nation’s faith in its youth has been shaken by a few misdeeds; I hope the new student councils will restore that trust.”

Encouraging future leadership, Dr. Rahman said, “You must prepare yourselves to take charge of the country. We want to hand over the controls to you — you’ll sit in the cockpit and guide the nation, while we support you with prayers and strength. If you falter, we’ll correct you gently; if you refuse to listen, we’ll firmly but respectfully remove you with the nation’s consent.”
“I deeply believe you can do it — you already have. You’ve driven out a metaphorical elephant from this society through your leadership. Under your guidance, a new Bangladesh will be built,” he concluded.
