13 more prosecution witnesses on Sunday testified at Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 in three cases filed against 53 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana over irregularities in plot allocations at Purbachal New Town Project.
Among the witnesses were Ministry of Housing & Public Works Joint Secretary Zakirul Islam Khan, Agrani Bank PLC Assistant General Manager Laila Nur Begum, RAJUK computer operator Zakir Hossain, RAJUK official Tanjilur Rahman, sub-registrars Mahbubur Rahman and Sohel Rana, Chief Adviser’s Office Director-2 Al Mamun Miah, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Sefatullah and Hasibuzzaman, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain, ACC constable Azharul Islam and two others, Gazi Sipon Islam and Monir Hossain.
In the first case against 17 accused, including Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana; Zakirul Islam Khan, Zakir Hossain, Tanjilur Rahman, Mahbubur Rahman, Sohel Rana, Al Mamun Miah, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah and Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain testified. The court adjourned the hearing until November 16 for cross-examination of the witnesses.
In the second case against 18 accused, including Sheikh Hasina and her niece Azmina Siddiq, testimonies were recorded from Zakirul Islam Khan, Tanjilur Rahman, Zakir Hossain, Azharul Islam, Al Mamun Miah, Gazi Sipon Islam and Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain. The court set November 23 for the next hearing.
In the third case against 18 accused, including Sheikh Hasina and her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq, witnesses included Monir Hossain, Laila Nur Begum, Al Mamun Miah, Zakir Hossain, Zakirul Islam Khan, Tanjilur Rahman and Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman. The court adjourned the proceedings until November 25.
Parallel proceedings in three similar cases against 47 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, are ongoing at Dhaka Special Judge Court-5.
Charges were framed in these cases on July 31, 2025, with arrest warrants issued for the accused, who remain absconding. The other three cases in Court-4 were framed on the same day.
Earlier, on July 20, 2025, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib had forwarded the cases to trial courts after the accused repeatedly failed to appear.
A gazette notification summoning 100 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana and Sajeeb Wazed Joy, was issued on July 1, 2025.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lodged the six cases between January 12 and 14, 2025, with charge sheets submitted on March 10, 2025.
The cases allege illegal allocation of plots in Sector 27, Road 203 of Purbachal project.
The first case, filed on January 14, involved eight accused, including Hasina, later expanded to 12.
Subsequent cases filed on January 13 and 14 involved between 15 and 16 accused, with charge sheets eventually naming 17 to 18 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, her children, nieces, nephews and senior officials of RAJUK and Housing Ministry.
