Students from Dhaka College and Ideal College have reached a verbal “peace agreement,” pledging not to engage in future clashes or disputes.
However, students from City College, who were also invited, did not attend the event.
The peace agreement ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon at Dhaka College auditorium, with teachers from both institutions in attendance.

During the event, students from the two colleges promised to maintain peace and avoid any form of conflict in the future.
Frequent scuffles among students of Dhaka College, City College and Ideal College over trivial issues often escalate into violent clashes, causing trouble for law enforcement and severe disruption to traffic and pedestrians in the area.

To prevent such incidents, New Market Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Mahfuzul Haque took the initiative to arrange a tripartite peace meeting among the three colleges.

Speaking to reporters, OC Mahfuzul Haque said, “We invited students from Dhaka College, City College and Ideal College to this peace agreement ceremony, but City College students did not come. What can we do about that?”

He added, “Still, we appreciate that Dhaka and Ideal College students made a verbal peace agreement. We will soon form a joint committee with representatives from police, teachers and students of the two colleges. Any future dispute between them will be resolved through this committee.”

The OC expressed hope that the peace pact would remain effective in the long run.
As a gesture of goodwill, Dhaka College students welcomed their counterparts from Ideal College with flowers and students from both institutions embraced each other at the event.
The ceremony was attended by OC AKM Mahfuzul Haque, Dhaka College Principal Professor AKM Elias, Ideal College Acting Principal Muhammad Rezwanul Haque and teachers from both institutions.
