Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the countrymen, including the youth, are eagerly waiting to cast their votes in the upcoming general elections, which would be a milestone in the country’s history.
The whole world is also looking ahead to the elections, the CEC said in a video message posted on the Election Commission’s official facebook page on Sunday.
The enthusiasm among the young generation, especially those who will be voting for the first time, is very encouraging for us, he added.
“Your vote is your power. Exercise your right to vote and encourage others to do the same.”
Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said that in line with the Chief Adviser’s pledge, the Election Commission has been working sincerely to ensure that expatriates can vote fairly for the first time. He expressed hope that with everyone’s cooperation, this initiative will be successful.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said that a single false or misleading piece of information during the election period can disrupt the environment for a fair election and hinder the democratic process. It is everyone’s responsibility not to be misled by blindly believing any news. Information must be verified from authentic sources or by directly contacting the Election Commission or relevant authorities.
Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarkar urged all candidates and individuals to strictly abide by the code of conduct and all related regulations.
Election Commissioner Begum Tahmida Ahmed said that men and women are nearly equal in number, and voting must be gender-friendly. No one has the right to deprive others of their voting rights. The Commission is working to ensure that everyone, especially women, can cast their votes properly.
EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that voting is a matter of coordination that requires everyone’s cooperation. He affirmed their commitment to delivering a good election to the nation.
The Election Commission plans to announce the election schedule in the first half of December and hold the voting in the first half of February. To this end, preparations are in their final stage.
