The interim government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting interfaith unity and communal harmony, warning that any attempt to disrupt the country’s religious coexistence will be met with the full force of the law.
The statement came through a press release issued on Monday by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing following an arrest of a 28-year-old suspect in connection with a series of recent cocktail attacks in Dhaka.
According to the release, preliminary police investigations identified the suspect as a member of the Chhatra League — the banned student wing of the deposed Awami League. He is currently being interrogated over several incidents, including the explosions at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Kakrail and St. Joseph School, a renowned Catholic-run institution.
The press release said the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in coordination with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has launched an extensive manhunt to capture all individuals involved in what it described as “heinous and cowardly acts of violence.”
Security measures have also been heightened at all churches and places of worship of different faiths across the capital to ensure public safety and communal peace, it added.
