Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan on Monday called for concerted efforts to transform Bangladesh into a fully democratic country where the rights of the people, including the right to vote, are fully ensured.
Speaking at a publication ceremony and discussion organised by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dr. Moyeen emphasized the need for cultural, educational, and societal foundations in politics.
“Let us all work together to build a truly democratic Bangladesh where human rights, fundamental rights, and the economic rights of millions of poor people are fully established,” he said.
He recalled the public unrest in July-August 2024, saying it was not an isolated event but the culmination of a long history of struggle. He noted that around 43 political parties have been fighting against deprivation, enduring attacks, fabricated cases, and torture while striving for democracy.
Dr. Moyeen also highlighted the significant contributions of JASAS in advancing the nationalist movement and promoting democratic values in the country.
