Newborn Baby Rescued from Riverbank in Benapole

A newborn baby boy was rescued from the bank of the Hakor River in Gazipur village under Benapole Port Police Station of Sharsha upazila, Jashore on Wednesday morning.

According to local sources, around 11:30am, residents of Gazipur village noticed the infant lying by the riverbank and immediately informed the local administration. Acting on the information, the Sharsha Upazila administration, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Benapole Municipality Administrator Dr. Nazib Hasan, rushed to the spot and rescued the baby.

“The newborn boy was found abandoned by the Hakor River in Gazipur village,” said Dr. Hasan. “After receiving the news from local residents, we rescued the baby and arranged a primary health check-up.”

Following medical examination, the infant was placed under the care of Kalu Mia’s wife, a resident of Gazipur village. “The baby’s condition is now stable,” Dr. Hasan added.

The UNO further said that the upazila administration will continue to ensure the child’s well-being and that necessary legal procedures will be carried out through the Upazila Child Welfare Board.
