Army Chief urges troops to brace for 21st-century challenges

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has urged personnel to be fully prepared to face the complex challenges of the 21st century by acquiring modern and relevant training.

He made the remarks while delivering the keynote speech at the 20th Annual Commanders’ Conference of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment, held at the Shaheed Colonel Nakeeb Hall of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre (BIRC) in Rajshahi Cantonment on Thursday (13 November).

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief highlighted the regiment’s proud history and its contributions to the nation. He also called on all members of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment to enhance their capabilities through contemporary training to meet emerging challenges.

During discussions with the regiment’s officers, General Waker-uz-Zaman emphasized the importance of technological advancement, research, professional skill development, and future planning for the regiment.

Upon his arrival at the BIRC conference hall, the Army Chief was welcomed by the GOC of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), the Commandant of BIRC, the GOC of the 11th Infantry Division, and the Area Commander of Bogura Area.

The conference was attended by senior officers of Army Headquarters, all commanding officers of BIRC units, and officers stationed at Rajshahi.
