BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has convened an emergency meeting of the party’s highest policymaking body, the National Standing Committee, to discuss the country’s evolving political situation.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening at 7 PM at the party chairperson’s office in Dhaka’s Gulshan.
Confirming the development, BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said that the acting chairman himself will preside over the session.
According to party insiders, the emergency meeting will focus on several pressing issues — including the current national political climate, the ongoing electoral process, and BNP’s organizational strategies ahead of the next phase of political activity. The discussion is also expected to touch on key national matters related to governance, the interim administration, and future electoral participation.
All members of the BNP’s National Standing Committee have been asked to attend the meeting in person. Political observers suggest the sudden convening of the party’s top forum signals the BNP leadership’s intent to reassess its stance and coordinate strategies in response to the fast-changing political landscape.
