A cocktail explosion occurred beneath the Karwan Bazar Metro Station in the capital on Sunday evening,creating panic among commuters in the busy commercial area.
The explosion occurred around 7:30 PM in the area.
Eyewitnesses said that a small amount of smoke and a loud sound were noticed beneath the metro station at the time of the explosion. Police and Fire Service personnel quickly arrived at the scene and took strict measures to secure the area.
Officials responsible for security at the Karwan Bazar Metro Station said that the cause of the explosion and the type of explosive used have not yet been determined. Police have already launched an investigation into the incident.
Although the explosion caused brief tension in the area, prompt action by the police prevented any major untoward incident. A police team is working to trace the origin of the explosion and identify those involved.
